Joy on Imperial Highway

It's taken me far too long to actually share about this, but for the sake of telling the story it will simply have happened "the other day".

So, the other day I was feeling under the weather, but I had the day off and I wanted to get out of the house and do something to be able to stay that I'd spent my day off well. I drove to - not the nearest, but the nearest with decent seating - Starbucks and tried to sit and read. Unfortunately my body, which was fighting a cold, decided that sitting in Starbucks was not nearly as comfortable nor as beneficial as lying in bed. So I left and and started driving home; feeling a bit dejected.

Being sick on your day off is kind of the adult equivalent of being sick during a school holiday for school children.

On my drive home I notice a person roller-skating along the sidewalk, and doing some pretty fancy moves. As my car approached and passed this person, I noticed that he was easily in his 70s or 80s. The fancy-roller-skating-dance-y-moves were enough to impress me; but to realize that this elderly gentleman was performing them was a sight that still brings a smile to my face.
