sorry, no pictures this time....

As my title says I'm afraid I don't have any pictures to share with this blog update, but I figured while I have some time I'd post another update about what life's been like here in Aberdeen so far.

Well, this week is my third week in Scotland, and my second week of classes. I've got two classes that I'm taking this semester (in fact I'll only be taking a total of 5 classes, so two this semester, two next semester, and then the "Dissertation" class for over the summer) one is the compulsory-for-all-Novel-students: "Theory of the Novel" course and the other for this semester is: "Walter Scott and his World". The reading is extensive for both of them, and well, I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of doing homework/school. But that will come, I guess. (Hopefully sooner rather than later). Along with both of my classes on Thursdays I'll occasionally have a workshop for one of the courses or with the whole of the taught English postgrads on Tuesdays. Also on Tuesdays I'll be going to swing dancing lessons put on by "Swing Dancing Aberdeen" the Swing Dancing Society (club) of Aberdeen University!

Other than that, I've found a church that I'm excited about getting involved with: Aberdeen Christian Fellowship! So far I've been both Sundays that I've been here and I went to one of their house-group (like a small group) meetings last week! It's just great being around fellow believers.

As many have asked, the weather here so far has been nice. There have only been a few days where rain is predominate. Mostly, if it has rained, it hasn't rained all day (yet). Last week, along with the rest of the UK, we got record high temperatures for Autumn (forget Autumn, I heard that it was - being in the mid-to-upper 70s - higher than it can get over the summer here in in Aberdeen!). So, that was fun. Although I've also heard that last winter they had a crazy winter and they're expecting another one like it....So, here's hoping that this California girl doesn't turn into a Popsicle!

Well, that's all the update I can think of for now. I'm sure I'll be posting more in the near future!

allons-y!
